IEA HPT Project 68: Industrial High-Temperature Heat Pumps
Project 68 focuses on accelerating the market uptake and deployment of industrial high-temperature heat pumps (HTHPs) to decarbonize industrial process heat demands, particularly for processes requiring supply temperatures above 100 °C.
The main objective of Project 68 is to establish an independent knowledge hub with high-quality information that fosters collaboration between stakeholders, addresses technological and informational barriers, and accelerates the electrification of industrial heat.
To maximize the impact of high-temperature heat pumps, the project gathers and shares international knowledge to develop sector-specific integration concepts, best practices, and targeted educational materials.
The intention is to create a shared understanding of the technology’s potential among a wide range of stakeholders, including manufacturers, end-users, consultants, academia, and policymakers.
The Danish participation is managed in collaboration between Danish Technological Institute, serving as Project Manager and Operating Agent, and DTU Construct, and is funded by the Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Programme (EUDP).
